Gethere the Final Rule for Sanitary Transportation of Human and Animal Food.

What do we do?

Saf T Lab™ certifies, by carrying out an on-site audit, compliance of sanitary procedures in locations dedicated to washout and sanitize reefer and dry van trailers, as well as other equipment for transportation of human and animal food.

With the Easy-To-Use proprietary software of Saf T Lab™, washing centers approved by Saf T Lab™ can print to the carrier a Cleanliness Compliance Certificate (CCC), which ensures that the trailer was washed and sanitized in accordance with the Saf T Lab™ Good Sanitary Transportation Practices (GSTP). With this software, it is also possible to consult the record of washed and sanitized trailers, regardless of where in the United States or Mexico has been washed, within the Saf T Lab™ network of approved establishments, meeting with this the requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the exchange of information regarding previous loads and cleaning of transport equipment.

Saf T Lab™ also certifies, by carrying out an on-site audit, compliance of Good Sanitary Transportation Practices (GSTP) that follow, to reduce the risks of contamination, companies shipping or receiving food for human or animal consumption, such as distribution or processing centers, as well as transport companies.

Scope

The Department of Health and Human Services of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the United States, has published General Enforcement Regulations to reduce the risk of cross contamination of food during its transport. This regulation was created under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), signed by President Barack Obama in January 2011, with the aim to prevent, rather than remedy, the possibility of physical, chemical or microbiological contamination of food, throughout the supply chain.

On the other hand, Mexico have several laws and standards (NOMs), published by SAGARPA, SEMARNAT and the Ministry of Health, whose purpose is the same: minimize the chances of food cross contamination throughout the chain of supply. Several of these legal provisions require that trailers an other equipmnet for transportation of humans and animal food, must be washed and sanitizedd, imposing strong economical penalties those who do not comply with these regulations.
